High School Rowing
Rowing is a Spring Sport in High School. During this season various scholastic teams compete against each other. Clubs are not permitted to enter scholastic competitions. Anyone participating in scholastic races needs to represent a high school team. BCRA helped a number of high school to develop their rowing teams; among them are:
These schools train under the umbrella of BCRA's High School Competitive team. Some rowers, who attend high school without a formal rowing team, get permission to represent their school in scholastic competitions and train with BCRA.
Schools that have, in the past, allowed their student to compete in rowing are:
High School Rowers compete over a 1500 m distance. All of our schools are members of the Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Association, which serves as our league. In addition, we also participate in the Garden State Scholastic Championship and the largest high school regatta in the United States, the Stotesbury Cup Regatta.
Highly competitive high school rowers are also welcome to participate in USRowing Junior competitions featuring a 2000 m distance.
High School Rowing
Required experience: Ideally, participants have completed a Learn-to-Row program before joining their high school team. However, we also welcome newcomers who will spend the beginning of the season in a learn-to-row portion of the program. All rowers must know how to swim.
In this program, all participants are representing their high school in competition.
March 1 - May 19, 2025
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, some Saturdays
4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Swim Test: TBD [Hackensack HS]
Fees: $850 (some High School will pay the fee)
